Letter from the trainer.
As a young child playing hide and go seek with my cousins, I often chose to hide in the horses’ hay bunk. It was there that I watched how horses communicated. There was always a ‘lead’ horse that could make the slightest movements, such as twitching an ear back, and the other horses would react in a manner of extreme respect. They would move, turn, back off and even give up their feed to that lead horse if that was what was asked of them. Was it fear? As I continued watching I realized it was not fear, but instead a high level of respect that they had for their leader. It was the lead horse that they would follow through new pastures, in and out of the barn and throughout the day. The lead horse could make the others turn, back up, run away or follow. After watching this bonding and communication between the horses, my mind was made up; I wanted to be that lead horse! Through prayer, observation, and gifting, I began to learn how to communicate with horses through their own language.
This communication is played out through my training. I use natural horsemanship methods that I have used over the years to train and communicate with the horses I work with. I have experience with various breeds including gaited and non-gaited horses. I work with a gentle yet assertive approach to build a trusting relationship between the horse and its handler. My specialties include but are not limited to: horses with bad habits, “difficult’ or ‘mis-understood’ horses, basic breaking for trail, handling, and performance. I also offer a quality sensory training program for everyday riding, shows,
parades, rodeos, etc.
As a horse trainer, I am committed to working hard to understand each horse’s unique style of communication and work with them to understand what I am asking / need them to do; thus getting them to respond through trust and respect.
If you wish to send your horse for training, we will customize a program for you and your horse’s needs; whether it is a short-term tune up or an
extensive training program. I look forward to meeting you and your horse!
Sincerely,
Jessie Baillargeon
